Paperworks: Knowles and Perehudoff
Dorothy Knowles and Bill Perehudoff
This exhibition will present examples of watercolor and acrylic works on paper by both Knowles and Perehudoff. It will contain approximately 15 pieces by each artist, all provided from and toured by the Mendel Art Gallery. Thought their subject matter may differ, both artists' work maintains similarity in technique: each artist creates unique watercolour works by moving away from traditional watercolour methods; instead of using drawing as a foundation, many of the works use color, not line, to delineate form, leaving the work more free and gestural. Similarly, both artists set themselves apart from the work of their peers with their use of scale and palette (in Perehudoff's case); unlike the Group of Seven, Knowles will often work from photography to create a comparable image of nature instead of one that differs drastically. Knowles and Perehudoff have exhibited across Canada and the United States in a variety of group exhibitions and numerous solo exhibits. Saskatchewan Arts Board Maquettes -- toured by OSAC
Artists commissioned to celebrate Saskatchewan Centennial
Maquettes are small models intended for working out sculpture related ideas. Sometimes they become models for actual sculptures, but more often than not they get set aside, except for the one that seems worth the time and effort to carry it to a full scale rendering. However, in this exhibition, the viewing public will have opportunity to see those otherwise ignored maquettes; the public will get a glimpse into the creative process of each artist, as well as viewing the different ideas and notions about what, exactly, they thought appropriately celebrated the Saskatchewan Centennial.Main Gallery

A Bordered Landscape - Rigmor Clarke Curated by Brenda Barry Byrne
Using the rugged British Columbian landscape as a subject, Rigmor Clarke has recreated her thrity-year painting experience with Saskatchewan scenery into a vibrant, energetic collection of imagery that represent the unique BC lighting, flora and fauna. Clarke created this body of work in the hopes that it would be a valuable and inspirational source in her studio, offering a deeper understanding of the relationship between mountain, sky and light. As a seasoned artist, this collection showcases Clarke's versatility, as well as her passion to explore, to be enlightened, and to share that experience with the viewer.Navigate Bordered Landscape VR Tour here:

Untie the Spirit - Thelma Pepper
In Untie the Spirit, Thelma Pepper offers an intimate view of resident life at the Sherbrooke long-term care facility. Inspired by her husband's struggle with health and the relief they both found with Sherbrooke, Pepper documents the success of The Eden Alternative: a philosophy and a movement that ultimately restores and fosters respect for those under long-term care. Her images of residents reveal a spirit and a life behind that face, reinforcing the notion that plants, pets, children and companionship are better than pills. Through her purposeful and sensitive photography, Pepper presents the positive possibilities that are at hand when long-term care facilities move away from being an "institution" and become an environment wherein elders can grow. The Bill Epp Show - Bill Epp
This exhibition recognizes Bill Epp’s role as a teacher, mentor and advocate for the arts. Epp was a pioneer of the sculpture movement in Saskatchewan, and as such, he was involved in numerous activities that promoted the understanding of sculpture. In addition, he was involved in creating opportunities for sculptors to interact, work together and to exchange ideas. His work is found throughout the world, both in private collections and in public spaces. For this exhibition, there will be approximately eight life-sized bronzes with thirty smaller works, showcasing his inventiveness and prolific ability. Works will be drawn from various stages in Epp’s life. Curated by Les Potter and James KorpanNavigate Bill Epp VR Tour here:
