The Winter Festival Juried Art Show is a showcase for local and regional artists and fulfills a central role in the region. providing the only professionally
juried show that serves the area. The WFJAS is the only juried exhibition in the province that displays all the works entered.

Painting and Printmaking
Janice Wong’s works are exquisitely crafted compositions of color and geometry that look like science and feel like a dream.
Janice is formerly from Prince Albert, a graduate of Alberta College of Art & Design and now resides in Vancouver.
Through her medium of printmaking Janice quotes “They are a corollary of my former job as a mapmaker, my experience in music,
my big sky prairie childhood and my love of color and form.

Selections from the Permanent Collection” by Wynona Mulcaster
Launch of the Art Gallery of Prince Albert’s Wynona Mulcaster e-bookA selection of works from our permanent collection that are highlighted in the book. Wynona Mulcaster (1915- )
was one of the first students at the Emma Lake Art School and went on to become an associate Professor of Art
at the University of Saskatchewan and Director of Art Education at the Saskatchewan Teachers college. 'Noni'
(as she is called by her friends), born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1915, is one of Canada's most accomplished painters.
Her Prairie landscape paintings capture the vitality and structure of the land and sky. She received a Saskatchewan
Arts Council Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Arts as well as two Canada Council Awards.
She was elected to Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

Main Gallery – “Boreal Baroque” by Mary Anne Barkhouse.

Boreal Baroque brings to us in all cases resonation stories of the earth; recognizing the myth and its
potential to engage us in personal or shared dialogues. The mixed media installations juxtapose
her love of nature within a Barogque setting to bring resounding stories of the earth.
Mary Ann Barkhouse belongs to the ancient traditions of making myths, the highest of the
human imagination’s engagement with a world that is our home but which we so easily seem to
make an alien place, then struggle to find worth within it. A graduate of Ontario College of Art and a
member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art, Mary now resides in Vancouver and is a member of the
Nimpkish Band Kwakiutl First Nations. Her work is included in international collections including HRH Queen
Elizabeth II and the Prince of Japan.September 14 – October 31, 2009

“Dimensions” is the annual, juried craft exhibition open to all Saskatchewan residents. The
SCC looks for works with unique, individual expression that transcend technique.
They should have content as well as achieving technical and creative excellence. In 2008 it was decided that
Dimensions will have a theme of "Growth". Entrants must interpret this literally, figuratively, spiritually,
above all with creativity and innovation in Fine Craft.

Fringe Gallery – “Scotty” Royal Saskatchewan Museum
Scotty is almost a complete skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex discovered in Eastend, Saskatchewan in 1991. The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is touring this three-dimensional replica of Scotty's skull.

Studio Gallery – “Shop the Christmas Casbah”
The Art Gallery of Prince Albert will be hosting a Christmas Store featuring the works of local Saskatchewan artists for sale. A wine and cheese reception and gift shop launch will take place on November 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the gallery. Store hours will be 12:00 – 5:00p.m. daily.
